 84 Highfield Road in Dublin is a single-storey property that currently operates as a hair salon. In the 1980s, three-storey apartment blocks were built in very close proximity, which effectively limited the potential for extending the existing building on the client’s plot. The client’s idea was to raise the building and create a residential unit above.

This case is challenging due to legal and building regulations, and it requires a design vision that strikes a balance between the client’s expectations and the concerns of neighbouring residents. Several versions of the project have been developed and are being reviewed with the planners. I created one of these versions, which I present on the end, and I also prepared photomontages for the remaining ones.
